Frequently Asked Questions

How much will this cost?

The total cost of resolving your tickets will be legal fee plus any fines or fees you may be required to pay. Legal fees vary based on the charges call (315) 364-1155 to inquire about your ticket.

The legal fee does not include the fine imposed by the court for a plea to a reduced charge. The court has the discretion to impose a fine with a certain range.

Will I have to appear in court?

Probably Not.

For traffic infractions, as opposed to misdemeanors, you will not have to appear in court or send in a not guilty plea to the court. We will make this appearance by mail and enter a no guilty plea on your behalf.

How do you know if you have a traffic infraction?

It will be marked on your ticket:

What about the court date listed on my ticket?

After you hire us, you can ignore it.

Once we are retained to represent you, we send a letter to the court to enter a not guilty plea on your behalf and request a postponement, or adjournment, of your case to give us the opportunity to meet with the prosecutor. Courts often reschedule cases for a month or more and we keep track of these dates for you. We will request additional extensions if your case requires it.

How long will this take?

About 6-10 weeks.

Courts and prosecutors vary, but the average is about 8 weeks from the time you hire us to the time we send you a notice from the court regarding the fine or disposition of your case.

There is usually a couple weeks between the time you hire us and the time we meet with the prosecutor. After we inform you of the proposed disposition of your case and you approve, courts usually take a few weeks to process the plea or dismissal. Once we send out your fine notice, most courts allow you about a month to pay the fine.

As soon as you retain the office to represent you, you no longer have to keep track of dates. If your appearance is required in court we will inform you. If, for whatever reason, your case is not resolved and a court date is approaching, we will contact the court for additional time.
